THE NUTCRACKER

The Nutcracker is a classic ballet set on Christmas Eve, centering around a young girl named Clara who receives a magical nutcracker doll from her godfather. As the clock strikes midnight, the doll comes to life, transforming into a handsome prince. Together, they embark on a fantastical journey, battling the Mouse King and traveling through the Land of Snow to the enchanting Land of Sweets, where they are entertained by various dances representing different cultures. The ballet is celebrated for its enchanting music by Tchaikovsky, elaborate costumes, and timeless story of adventure and wonder.

In the second act, Clara and the Nutcracker Prince arrive at the Land of Sweets, where they are greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy and her court. The fairy honors them with a grand celebration, showcasing a series of delightful dances, including the Spanish, Arabian, Chinese, and Russian variations, as well as the iconic Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. The performance culminates in a majestic Pas de Deux, leaving Clara in awe. As the festivities draw to a close, Clara awakens back at home, left to wonder if her magical adventure was real or just a dream.

AYBT’s presentation of The Nutcracker remains a beloved holiday tradition, captivating audiences with its charming tale and exquisite dance. This will be the 51st annual presentation of the full-length ballet.
