Welcome to Anderson Young Ballet Theatre Academy, Official Dance School of Anderson Young Ballet Theatre. Our dance school offers technical dance training in a professional setting. AYBT Academy advanced dancers may audition for Anderson Young Ballet Theatre, a pre-professional ballet company (see explanation for AYBT below).
Our dance academy is located in downtown Anderson, Indiana in the Big Four Arts Depot. Set in a renovated historic Big Four Train Station, our location is a wonderful and inspiring place for your child to learn, dance, grow, and perform.

Welcome to the 50th Season of AYBT! Anderson Young Ballet Theatre is pre-professional dance company under the artistic direction of Jennifer Thiemet, Catherine Petraits, and Rachel Kuhn. Founded in 1974 by Lou Ann Young, AYBT has utilized Anderson’s dancing youth to produce such full-length classical ballets as The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia, Romeo & Juliet, Cinderella, Giselle, Red Shoes, Swan Lake, Alice in Wonderland, and several ballet excerpts. AYBT has also presents many world-premiere ballets such as Nosferatu, Le Voyage, The Little Mermaid, and The Legend of MuLan. Our choreographic team is beginning our newest ballet for our 2023-2024 Season, 12 Dancing Princesses, in celebration of our 50th Anniversary Season. AYBT is also one of the forerunners in dance for modern and musical theater. Each season, in addition to the Nutcracker, AYBT performs two additional full-length productions at the beautiful Anderson Paramount Theater and Reardon Auditorium.
